We offer domain name registration for .com, .net, .org, .co.uk,
.org.uk, .biz, .info, .de, .name and .us, each for £20+VAT per year
Please note: this price is for the domain name
only - in order to have a website associated with your domain name
you will also have to book some webspace, using our website
hosting service.
How do I choose a domain name? People
normally choose a variant of their organisation's name and/or a
word or phrase that is something to do with their main activity.
So, for example, if you have a company that deals in motor spares
called Acme Trading you might consider options such as acme-trading.com
or acme-motorspares.com.
Use our
online Domain Name Availability Tool to
see whether your chosen name has already been taken -
unfortunately these days it can take quite a long time to find a
suitable domain name that is still available. Try our
Domain Name Suggestion Tool if you need some ideas!
How many domain names can I own? You can
book any number of domain names and point them all to your main
website - our example organisation above might book any or all of
the following (if available); acme.com, acme.net, acme.info,
acme.co.uk, acmetrading.com, acmetrading.net, acmetrading.co.uk,
acme-trading.com, acme-trading.net, acme-trading.co.uk, acme-motorspares.com,
acme-motorspares.net, acme-motorspares.co.uk.
How long do I own them for? For as long as
you continue to pay for them. You can book for up to ten years at
a time, and many people book on a five yearly basis - you can
specify this on the order form. Remember - if you book a name it is exclusively
yours (subject to the conditions below), and nobody else can use
it. We cover domains ending in .com, .net, .org, .co.uk, .org.uk,
.biz, .info, .de, .name and .us.
Are there any restrictions? You cannot book
a name that is the trademark or intellectual property of another
individual or organisation - please see the Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy for more information on this. You can only use
alphanumeric characters (a-z, 0-9) and hyphens in domain names -
no spaces or other special characters are allowed.
How does the whole domain naming system work? In a
nutshell there are a number of international organisations (called
Registrars) through whom everybody has to book their domain names.
The registrars hold all the information about each domain,
including the owner (also known as the Registrant - aka. you!), admin, billing and technical contacts, plus
the IP address of the webserver that holds the website for
that domain name, the registrar that we use is Tucows. If you want to find out more visit www.webopedia.com
What information do I need to provide?
Don't worry about all the technical stuff above - all you need to
do is provide us with your contact details, a list of domain names
you wish to book and the relevant payment, then we'll sort out the
rest. Please note: although the Netpoint Project will be listed as
the Technical and Admin Contacts for your domain names (for
obvious reasons), unlike some less reputable ISPs who also list
themselves as the Owner, the Owner will always be yourselves,
meaning that you will always have ultimate control over your
domain names.
Please note: You will also need to read and
accept the Domain Registration Agreement before finalising
your order. If you will be using website hosting or email
services you
must additionally agree to our ISP Terms & Conditions.
